Dr. Ahmira R. Torres, originally from Aguadilla, is the only Board-Certified Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist in Puerto Rico. She graduated from Colegio San Carlos and studied Animal Science at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez. She completed her veterinary degree at Ross University and her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Florida. In 2014, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
She has worked in internal medicine, emergency, and surgery centers in Virginia and Texas. Since 2021, she has been part of CEVET, specializing in endoscopic procedures and ultrasonography. She is a published author and invited speaker in the US and Puerto Rico.
Dr. Torres enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor exercise, traveling, and water activities.
Hailing from Jacksboro, Texas, Dr. Stephen Cassle completed his undergraduate studies at Texas Christian University with a BS in Biology. Dr. Cassle earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University and completed a rotating clinical internship at the Department of Defense Military Working Dog Veterinary Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas directly after vet school graduation. During his Army Long Term Health Education and Training Program, Dr. Cassle completed a Masters in Public Health with a focus on Global and Environmental Health from the University of Florida, where he also completed a residency in Aquatic Animal Health. Dr. Cassle is a Board Certified Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, which he obtained in 2013 and received The Army Surgeon General 9A Proficiency Designator for excellence in Veterinary Preventive Medicine in 2021.
Stephen served 21 years in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, retiring as a Colonel in 2023. His leadership roles included overseeing veterinary treatment clinics, clinical services, and food protection missions across numerous locations around the world. In his final four years, he commanded twice, leading the 248th Medical Detachment Veterinary Service Support and Public Health Activity-Guam.
Dr. Cassle boasts a diverse and comprehensive veterinary medical background, with specialized expertise spanning: Veterinary Preventive Medicine, ensuring proactive health management and disease prevention; General Practice, providing a solid foundation in treating a wide range of common illnesses and conditions; and, uniquely; Exotic Pets, catering to the specialized veterinary needs of non-traditional animal companions. Living in Puerto Rico with his wife, Dr. Ahmira Torres, and their three children, Dr. Cassle enjoys outdoor activities, travel, and water sports. He is also a Legos enthusiast, SCUBA diver, and amateur sailor.
